The fact that the Isle of Wight is surrounded by water on all sides (as any island is) makes for different tidal and wind conditions and so is ideal for a varied mix of water sports.
Enjoy sailing, kayaking and paddle boarding on some of the calmer Island waters or if you’re feeling brave, head to the kite surfing mecca of Compton Bay and ride the waves on what can be a very windy beach!
During Cowes week in August, there are lots of places and opportunities where you can learn to sail and navigate various other watercrafts, including dinghies, powerboats, canoes and jet-skis.
